Murder Mystery Dinner - 1950's Sock Hop "A Dance with Death"
A masterclass whodunit with a hip scholastic twist while standing on principals!
The Cumberland is looking forward to our Third Annual Murder Mystery Event coming on April 11, 2027. Our theme in 2025 was a Billionaire Masquerade Ball, and our 2026 theme was a 1950's Sock Hop. We look forward to dressing-up for a 1920's Gangster Murder in April. Don't you dare fuhgeddaboudit!
We have great fun as we try to determine who “done the deed,” and raise money for continuing our restoration of the Cumberland. Fun and fundraising is a great combination and we do hope you join us to put the Fun in Fundraising! Look forward to emails in the future giving you all the information you need to make it a great evening.
A special shout out to The Murder Mystery Co. and everyone whodunit to make this another successful annual fundraiser benefit for the CCEC. A suspicious "thank you" to everyone involved.

The Cumberland's 134th Birthday Party
With special attending guests Mr. Oscar "Haberdasher" Hult and the Albany Tweed Riders celebrating our 134th birthday with us. That's just how we roll!
May 9, 2026 Historic Cumberland Bell Ringing
The original Cumberland Presbyterian Church was dedicated on May 5, 1892. This is
why we celebrate its birthday in early May each year. This year (its 134th) was particularly special because the celebration included the ringing of the bell, for the first time in decades, after the bell was restored and reinstalled earlier this year.
Liz Rapp, the Cumberland Historian, shared her research about the bell after which Dick Olsen, a longtime supporter of the Cumberland, rang the bell at high noon. A crowd of over 50 enjoyed cupcakes and cookies (courtesy of Inez Neal, a past church member) along with building tours.

CARA (Central Albany Revitalization Area) Grant
Earlier this year it was announced that the remaining Central Albany Revitalization Agency (CARA) funds were to be spent down via a final grant. approximately $600,000 was made available for businesses and other organizations to make improvements to buildings within CARA's operating area. The Cumberland Community Events Center submitted a proposal in late March. At a meeting of the Albany Revitalization Agency on May 27th CCEC was awarded $109,100.00 to cover the cost of our System Development Charges and Utility Connection Fees. This is a huge win for the CCEC and represents approximately 12% of our total budget! Thanks CARA!

Annual Yard Sale
The highly anticipated Annual Cumberland Yard Sale had to be postponed due to untimely rainfall. The new date is rescheduled for 11 July.
(We are accepting donations of items for the sale Monday, July 6, thru Friday, July 10, at the Cumberland from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Please be sure items are reasonably clean and in good repair. No baby items or clothing please.)
